Brief Description: Ornate tin displaying exotic bird designs and foliage with a cracquerler surface
Subject Date: 1908
Creator: Huntley, Boorne & Stevens
Publisher: Huntley & Palmers

Full Description: Designing new shapes for the tins was a time-consuming and costly process. From the early days of decorative tin production, it was common for Huntley & Palmers to reuse the same shape tin but with a different design. The shape of this tin was first used for the 'Pompeian' tin in 1893. It was then reused for the 'Indian' tin (1894) and 'Dresden' tin (1895). This Japanese Casket was the last use of this particular shape and the Japanese decorations on the tin reflect the growing interest in the Far East.
