Brief Description: Peek Frean Catalogue - Some Biscuits Specialities for Christmas 1923
Subject Date: 1923
Publisher: Peek Frean and Co.

Full Description: This catalogue cover shows the Peek Frean factory clocktower at Kettons Road, Bermondsey. This clocktower was one of the few parts of the factory to survive the Blitz during the Second World War. Peek Frean was established in 1857 and had its first factory in St Saviour's Dock, London. After a spectacular fire in 1872, which the Prince of Wales, later Edward VII, came to see, a new factory was built nearby in Bermondsey. Peek Frean were famous for their 'Pearl' and 'Pat-A-Cake' biscuits. In 1921 Peek Frean and Huntley & Palmers formed Associated Biscuits Manufacturers Ltd. From that point on the two companies negotiated together on issues like retailers percentages and shared some financial information.
