Brief Description: Huntley & Palmers wall calendar of the Royal Henley Regatta and the River Thames Straight Mile
Subject Date: 1949
Publisher: Huntley & Palmers
Full Description: From the 1860s employees were given a half day off to attend the Henley Regatta. The company often used Thames river scenes in their advertising materials, probably because Reading and the factory overlooked the river. The firm also gave their employees the chance to take part in rowing through its support for the Reading Working men's Regatta. In 1892 Huntley & Palmers gave a challenge bowl for four-oar races between crews representing the factory's different departments.
