Brief Description: Cilla Black being presented with a birthday cake from two female workers of the Huntley & Palmers Huyton factory
Subject Date: 27 May 1964
Full Description: The inscription on the back of this photograph reads: '"Happy 21st Cilla. Yesterday (Weds May 27) was a Big Day in the life of our top girl pop singer Cilla Black". Not only was she 21, but her latest release 'You're My World' went right to no.1 after only two weeks in the charts. Among her most enthusiastic well-wishers on the day were 16 year old Mavis Morcroft and 21 year old Pamela Yates, workers at Huntley & Palmers Huyton Factory, who came down to London to present Cilla with her birthday cake at a party held in her dressing room at the Palladium. The cake was 16lb depicting in icing Cilla perched on top of her world with hearts and musical instruments piped round the sides. Cilla's verdict:' A Hit!'
