Brief Description: A list of cakes and biscuits sold wholesale by Thomas Huntley from 72 London Street
Subject Date: 1830s
Publisher: Huntley & Palmers

Full Description: This is one of the earliest surviving advertisements for Thomas Huntley's biscuit bakery in London Street. Huntley sold his biscuits from a basket to hungry coach travellers who stopped at the Crown coaching inn near to his shop. By the 1830s Huntley's Reading biscuits had a good reputation in towns across the south of England. An 1837 account book records 117 wholesale customers, mostly grocers.
