Brief Description: Reproduction of a watercolour of Huntley & Palmers original shop front in London Street
Subject Date: Around 1850

Full Description: This image is a later artist's idealised impression of the London Street bakery that Joseph Huntley started in 1822; it also shows one of the famous handcarts that the company used to deliver biscuits around the town. After George Palmer opened his new factory on the King's Road in 1846, the original shop remained open until 1861. The original building has since been demolished but the current building is marked with a blue plaque.
