Full Description: This 1894 leaflet appears to be introducing the Breakfast Biscuit, invented by Walter Palmer, to the French market. Walter was a trained scientist and had been trying to perfect a medicated biscuit which included yeast for his friend George Meredith. Walter's wife Jean was a leading literary and society hostess. They often hosted literary parties at Westfield, their Reading home, and their guests included Oscar Wilde and his wife Constance, George Meredith, John Ruskin and Isadora Duncan.
