Brief Description: Single page advert for Huntley & Palmers Cakes in colour
Subject Date: Around 1890
Publisher: Huntley & Palmers

Full Description: Huntley & Palmers began making cakes in the 1830s however their cakes never attained the same levels of fame as their biscuits. The first surviving output record from 1903-1904 shows that cakes represent only 3.5% of total output for that year. Initially all cakes were either made to order or produced in small batches according to demand. The first large-scale oven for cakes was not introduced until the 1950s.
